Luxembourg joins the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics
The Brussels Institute for Geopolitics (BIG) is proud to welcome Luxembourg as its ninth EU member, further broadening the Institute’s European base and reinforcing its mission to advance strategic thinking in an era of geopolitical turmoil.
As one of the Union’s founding members and home to key EU institutions such as the Court of Justice and the European Investment Bank, Luxembourg embodies a longstanding commitment to integration and multilateralism.
Commenting to mark the occasion, BIG’s director Luuk van Middelaar said:
“Luxembourg provides insight and perspective on the Institute’s work on climate security, international monetary relations and the geopolitics of technology among other topics and areas of interest. It has long played an outsized role in shaping the European project and remains a trusted and central partner at a time of geopolitical strife.”
With Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain already among its state members, Luxembourg’s addition strengthens BIG’s capacity to reflect Europe’s rich diversity of perspectives and to advance a shared agenda of sovereignty, resilience and leadership.
